InfoTrends Announces Comprehensive Study on Production Digital Printing in Russia

(Weymouth, MA) April 29, 2008 . . . InfoTrends today announced the launch of a comprehensive study of the production printing market in Russia entitled Production Digital Printing in Russia: A Multi-Client Report. The new study will describe the status and prospect of the high-end digital printing market in Eastern Europe’s most dynamic and influential country.

“Russia is a tantalizing opportunity for makers of digital print technology. It has a booming economy, the biggest print-consuming public in Europe, and a printing industry that is sophisticated but young in terms of digital,” commented InfoTrends’ Bob Leahey, project manager for the study. Leahey offered a few facts to support his view:

  • Russia’s GDP grew at an 8.1% rate to reach $2.1 trillion in 2007 and has averaged 7% growth in recent years, which is more double that of the U.S.
  • With 141 million citizens and a 99%+ literacy rate, the print-consuming public in Russia is 72% larger than it is in Germany.
  • Russia has over 7,000 print enterprises of various types, established distributors, and academic centers specializing in the training of qualified print managers.

The report will focus on roll fed and cut sheet high-speed black & white digital printing equipment as well as all color digital equipment that is 60 pages per minute or faster. The report will address these basic questions: what is the current state of production-level digital printing within this vital market and its printing industry, and what does its future hold?

To find the answer, this study aims to estimate and forecast the production digital printing market in Russia and gain important qualitative insights about Russian print providers, their applications, their plans, and their preferences. This report will offer critical guidance to those who are selling digital printing equipment, software, and supplies to the Russian market, or who may do so in the future.

Production Digital Printing in Russia: A Multi-Client Report will help your company:

  • Estimate and forecast the production digital printing market
  • Understand how the market is currently segmented and how it will likely change
  • Understand the trends impacting the market
  • Support strategic planning for products and services
  • Improve sales and marketing activities in key market segments in Russia
  • Understand the purchasing process, buying plans, and preferences in Russia

Primary research will consist of a structured survey of 200 Russian print service providers with production digital printing equipment, conducted in partnership with a team of educators at the Moscow University of Graphic Arts as well as in-depth interviews with OEMs, distributors, paper merchants, and print service providers. Secondary research will include a review of existing studies on the commercial printing market in Russia.
