InfoTrends Uncovers Opportunity for Capture in Latin America

October 06, 2010 (Weymouth, MA) . . . InfoTrends has just released the results of a novel study on scanning and imaging in Latin America. The study provides results for Latin America as a whole as well as individual countries including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and Rest of Latin America. This study, The Opportunity for Capture in Latin America, comes at a critical time when vendors are seeking new sources of growth outside of the maturing, and increasingly competitive, markets of the U.S. and Western Europe.

The results of this study bode well for the Latin American image capture market, with over 40% of companies surveyed indicating that making the shift to digital was one of their business priorities. Even more impressive is the fact that every country surveyed is expected to attain substantial growth in unit placements through 2014, with Brazil leading the pack.

While the Latin American region represents a viable opportunity for the capture market, the study revealed that significant acumen is required in gaining access. “Latin America includes a variety of diverse cultural, social, economic, and geo-political climates that pose unique challenges and present country-specific opportunities,” commented Anne Valaitis, an Associate Director at InfoTrends. She continued, “End-user behavior and buying patterns are unique in each of these regions, and understanding these differences is critical to sustaining business growth.”

In addition, processes, programs, and pricing are often very different in emerging markets than they are in the U.S. or Europe, so different regions cannot be treated equally. Key to success is a level of immersion on a region and country level.

The Opportunity for Capture in Latin America aims to:

  • Provide a clearer understanding of the size, nature, and future growth potential for scanning in Latin America
  • Profile and evaluate end-user acquisition and usage behaviors associated with scanning technologies
  • Examine customers’ purchasing decisions and methods
  • Evaluate the channels that will be able to deliver these future technologies most effectively
  • Determine the current market for electronic scans (Page Volumes) and evaluate the scan forecast for the future

This study is designed to help imaging vendors and suppliers understand the dynamics and industry impact of the Latin American markets and learn what is necessary to be successful.

Purchase of the study includes a WebEx presentation with the author to review the findings. For more information or to purchase this study contact Alison Hipp at +1 ext. 126 or e-mail .
