CAP Ventures Study Puts Internet Web Sites to the Test


(Weymouth, MA) June 11, 2002…In May 2002, CAP Ventures conducted a study on the responsiveness of paper Internet sites to customer inquiries made via e-mail. The results of the study have been published in a CAP Ventures white paper entitled Internet Paper Web Site Follow-Up: Web Sites Put to the Test.

CAP Ventures sent e-mail messages to paper information sites, paper auction/sales sites, paper service/facilitator sites, and paper manufacturers. As indicated in the chart below, the same question was asked of each participant in each category.

The results of this test were wide-ranging. Some participants responded almost immediately with an e-mail message or even a phone call. Nearly half of the companies never responded to the message at all. One frustrating aspect of some Web sites was the inability to quickly determine how and where to purchase the companies’ products.
